Properties in Shantinagar
This area has witnessed immense development since long ago. It became known as the center of Dhaka long ago. Although there is a huge demand for property, it is very difficult to find property. Shantinagar is the first choice of parents due to several famous schools in this area. This area was planned for schools, colleges, open grounds etc., but in the nineties and later, restaurants and shopping centers started to emerge on Bailey Road. Many high-rise residential buildings in Dhaka city are also here.
Transportation
If we were to name areas that provide good connectivity and access to all of the areas of Dhaka city, then Shantinagar is among the first few. As it is located right in the center of Dhaka city, the residents of this area enjoy a little more advantage than others. Bailey Road passes through the area. It is on the north and east side of the Outer Circular Road. To the west is the Moghbazar Road, which provides easy access to the Moghbazar-Mouchak flyover. Moghbazar Road and Outer Circular Road can be visited in all the beautiful areas like Motijheel, Uttara, and Bashundhara.
Educational institutions
This area is full of schools, colleges, and universities. The main branch of Vikarunnisa School is located at Bailey Road. Wills Little Flower School is also located nearby in Kakrail. There are two universities in Shantinagar and Siddheshwari, those being Stamford University and Habibullah Bahar College.
Medical facilities
Few high-quality hospitals can be found in this area. The Manwara Hospital is well known for its care of mothers and children. The Bangladesh Eye Hospital is also located here. Popular Diagnostics has a branch here. There is the Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital under the management of the Red Crescent Society. There is no shortage of pharmacies in Shantinagar due to the abundance of hospitals.
Entertainment
Ramana Park is located very close to this area. There is no other park like this park in Dhaka city in size and tradition, featuring a beautiful lake in the middle of it. This area is full of people throughout the year especially during holidays. That is why in 2005, Bailey Road was named Natak Sarani by the Dhaka City Corporation.
Mosques and religious institutions
The City of Mosques, Dhaka, has several mosques for devout Muslims. The first choice for Hindus is the Siddheshwari Kali Temple. There are also Christian churches in the area.
Neighborhood
On the north side of Shantinagar is Moghbazar. On the west, there are many government quarters in Iskaton area. There is a police headquarters in Ramna. On the south-east is Segunbagicha. On the very south is Paltan and on the south-east the busy area Motijheel is also located.
Food and restaurants
Shantinagar’s Bailey Road is a collection of food stalls and restaurants. Fakhruddin’s Biryani is the most famous of the region. People from the whole city gather here for evening hangout or night time dining.
Shopping
There are famous shopping centers like Karnaphuli Garden City Shopping Complex, Concorde Twin Tower, Bailey Star, Capital Siraj Center in this area. Eastern Plus, one of the computer goods bazaars, is located here. It would not be wrong to call Anarkali Market as a small new market, and there are numerous grocery stores and department stores in the entire area’s Ollie gollie.
