This South Asian nation is home to 163,187,000 people, making it the eighth most populous country in the world. The riverine country of Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world. The southern part of Bangladesh opens into the Bay of Bengal. There are three main types of soils in Bangladesh: old alluvial soils, recent alluvial soils and hill soils, which have a base of sandstone and shale.
