Basabo has grown as a desirable locality in terms of housing facilities, thanks to the Navana Silver Dale and Chayabeethi Eastern Housing Project. The area is a symbol of religious harmony with the combination of mosques, temples and monasteries. Mosques are within reach throughout the area. Dharmarajika Buddhist Monastery is an important religious establishment in Basabo. It was established as the first Buddhist monastery after the partition of India in 1947.
To the north of Basabo are Khilgaon, Rampura, and Malibagh, and to the southwest are Motijheel, Kamlapur and Mugda areas. Basabo’s transportation with the southern part of Dhaka is very good. The development of roads in this area has also going on extensively.

Basabo area has numerous food, hotels and restaurants. Basabo has a special importance for foodies. The Sizzle Restaurant, Fish House, AC Food Palace, Cafe Mermaid, Red Hot Chicken Biryani & Kebab House, Kebabwala are all very famous.
All the famous brands like Arang, Apex, La Rive have outlets in the area. There are also super shops like Meena Bazar, Swapn. Even if there is no such big shopping mall, any shopping needs can be met from this area.
